Oakville, Ontario to Charleston, South Carolina

Two days and 1,591 kms (approx. 994 miles) later we arrived in Charleston, South Carolina.  Day one featured white knuckled driving through rain on mountainous terrain. We pulled into the Walmart parking lot in Beckley, West Virginia at 1:30 a.m.  and took off by 9:00 a.m. for Day two’s driving adventure through more mountainous terrain, fog and finally the longer vistas of South Carolina.

Most of our driving was along Interstate 77. We drove through two tunnels on the way and truly enjoyed watching snow give way to brown-green grasses.

Fog makes for not-so-fun driving in Virginia, but it does beat driving in snow.

I woud love to see Charleston. So much history….or so I’m told. First shots of the civil war….pioneers for religious tolerence….

Have you noticed a difference in basic interactions? Are they holding open doors and calling you Sir and Ma’am?
